Everyone has moments of feeling down throughout the day, but depression is persistent for weeks or months and is a real illness with real symptoms. Symptoms of depression include lasting feelings of sadness, hopelessness, losing interest in the things you enjoy and anxiety. The severity of symptoms can vary, but the good news is that with the right treatment and support, people can often make a full recovery.
