Another thought about depression for you to ponder

On the topic of depression:

Do you feel that two people, both dealing with depression, can make a caring relationship work?

A thought or question that I had, while thinking of depression. More dealing with depression.

Seems a silly questions, but for those with depression, it isn't. Your input would be nice to read.

Depression-----leave the door unlocked and it just won't leave!!

:D great question :!: I think if a depressed couple are both working through it and take some space from each other it could definantly be a good relationship depening on the feelings for each other of course. I think they'd be more understanding of each other and be a good support. They'd also be far less likely to take each other for granted as so many couples do. :P

I have also ponder that thought many times. It could work it depends on how supportive you are of each other and how you are handling your depression. If one or both of you are not taking a part to make it through life with your depression than there will be many complications. But if both partners are not giving up hope and are there for each other all the way and understand each other when they are in there depressed day then the relationship would be able to work.

Sometimes it is too hard for a "average" person with no mental illness to take care of one who does have a mental illness. Those who don't have a hard time understand and usually get caught up with wanting to help the other so badly they may get caught up in their own depression themselves. Me and my ex is a good example of this. He did everything he could to try to understand me and help that he started getting anxiety attacks and he was stressed out.. It was making us worse in the end so our relationship ended. We are still friends and he is still there for me just not in a romantic relationship.

Anyway, enough rambling from me. lol.

Ramble on!! Through our rambling about depression, I think it does in fact, help us to deal with our own depression and anxieties.

It's possible, though I think it also depends on both parties' capacity for coping and willingness to work things out between them and within themselves. And ideally speaking, they shouldn't go ballistic on each other at the same time.

Still, I think this is a very workable set-up.

Probably depends what kind of depression they both suffer from. People react differently to it. I guess it would be a little like having a support group just for yourself, which isn´t bad. I would like to think that it would work.

Your thoughts are a great addition to this website and actually quite healthy. :) I've done the wondering and thinking too much thing myself but I'm sure it's helped me out of depression (although I'm still on meds). I read once that depression is your mind's way of re-writing itself. This got me thinking what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. There's so much more I'd like to say but I just can't find the words. Hmm.......
I'll add more if i find those words.
