Me: " My name is TackingIntoTheWind, and I'm a perfectionist. "
Everyone else at the meeting: " Hello, TackingIntoTheWind. "
But seriously though folks....
I'm working hard to curb my perfectionism, that I have to admit I view as a mixed blessing. It's good to have a conscientious approach to whatever we do. However, too much of anything, even perfectionism, is not automatically a good thing in my view.
The world may demand perfectionism, but what the world demands may not be fair, feasible or even necessarily sane!
And, even if perfection could be achieved, would it truly be desirable?

If someone or something would were to be perfect, it would, by definition, have no capacity for growth or change. Being perfect it would have neither scope or need to be any more than it was. Isn't there something of sterility about the idea of perfection. If to be perfect is to come to the end of all possibilities and alternatives, this hardly seem desirable, more an ending to be feared?
( PS. Although, I am of course Welsh, and to be Welsh is better than perfect!
