going away with meds

Postby smh » Mon Mar 01, 2010 4:29 pm

hey i'm going away to italy in two weeks and was wondering if anyone knew what the story is about taking my meds with me? i'm going with my friend and she doesn't know that i'm on them and i'd prefer to keep it that way. i don't know what the situation is with bringing stuff like that out of the country? i'm going from ireland and i know it might sound stupid but i've been worrying about it. will i have to show a prescription or explain what they are to customs people or whatever? any feedback would be appreciated!

Hi smh,

Believe if you have the meds in a bottle from getting them filled, your name is on it, all that information will show that it is your medication and that you need to take it.

Don't know if you can go into the internet and find that information, but would be worth the try.

Enjoy your trip. :)

You could always call the airline as well.

I know this is an old topic, but just in case people are worried about it, the official policy (having looked into it):

1. Pack them in your checked in luggage and it really, 99.99% of the time wont be checked.

2. If you are carrying carry on, any less than 50 pills / tablets won't generally raise suspicions, and you do not have to declare what tablets are for, just what they are.
