Appreciate the Little Things

Postby crystalgaze » Thu Oct 01, 2009 2:34 am

I was able to do just that the other day....

I was up late again one night.... & somehow my Dad's snoring & the usual stuff (the neighbor's dogs, etc.) gave me a warm feeling. :)

I didn't really have any words for it.

What are some of the things/people you appreciate?

I appreciate my little dog who always seems to know when I need extra love and cuddles. I don't know where I would be without her. I love her so much.

Driving

Postby crystalgaze » Mon Oct 26, 2009 9:33 pm

I went for a drive... It's 1 of the few times I wasn't frightened... I had to get out the house... The light has been playing tricks on my eyes now for some time & I swear I keep seeing shadows on the wall....

~lol~ NnnnoooOOOOO! I don't need that.... ~shakes her head~ Nuh uh...

Anyway, it was relatively quiet & peaceful... There were a few annoying people on the road, but driving was really great. It was the kind of thing that soothed my soul....

~lol~ Of course, I must do something about my bad habit of driving using only one hand.... I just rest the other one on my lap... (It feels so comfortable though...)

I am glad you were able to enjoy this soothing activity. I am sure there are many beautiful places to drive where you live.

I forgot to add that what made the drive really nice was that there was some lightning flashing in the sky....

not the snap, crackle, pop kind that scares me.... (I wouldn't normally be on the road with that kind of lightning.)

It was the "oh see me here" kind of lightning.... Flash... "Did you see me?"
Now get this.... I go out for the drive & when I come back.... my mom says, "You weren't in the house?" ~lol~ She was like, "Wow!" I was just like -_-;; ~lol~ It was pretty funny... Even though I told my dad I was going down the road, he forgot that I went & got startled by the car when I pulled back into the yard....

Little things to appreciate:

My mom climbing the stairs the 1st few times... An absolute surprise considering all she's been through lately...

My dad going bananas over this dog that was in the shoe store we went to the other day. (I've never seen my dad like a dog that instantly... ~lol~ When he walked through the door, it gave my dad its paw.... When I walked through the door, I got the hand--a great big ol' IGNORE.... or should I say paw?)

The plants in the yard looking better....

My friend who appears to adore me... (???)

A cold drink on a hot day

A cool shower on a hot day

A warm shower on a cold day

The smell of freshly cut grass

The cool side of the pillow

Clean towels

Fresh bedsheets (esp. when you're not feeling well)

Having a lie in (few and far between, sleep being a terrible problem for me)

Sunday dinners

Pyjamas

Socks

Finding money in an old bag/jacket

When you put your whole music library on shuffle and it just ends up playing your favourite songs.

Walking out of a room while singing along to a song and when you come back in you're exactly in time with the nusic

A dumb text message from a friend when you're down, just quoting a TV show or song lyric or something, as if they just knew you needed to hear from someone even though you hadn't told anyone

Thinking you've dropped something that will break then catching it just in time even though you thought your reflexes were long gone

Waking up from a dream where you've made a huge, life-altering mistake and having that moment of relief where you realise it was just a dream

A really good run or workout at the gym, when you've pushed yourself right to the limit of your capabilities

Heavy rain when you're safe indoors

Thanks. I may add more when I think of them.

I like to remind myself of the little things occasionally, and try and pick one thing each day which is good, regardless of how good or bad a day it's been overall. Even if it's just something like a bird singing a really beautiful song, it's a reminder that there are cool and interesting things out there.

Hhmm....

The new cat in the yard (which I promised I wouldn't adopt)

The sky, the air, the sun, the sea

My nail color (Opi's Go on Green) matching the beach water (which was absolutely unexpected & stunning)

Walk on the beach with a loved one

Exploring the beach (Seeing what's around the corner)
