I'm good at doing various things but not very good at making money from them, and have physical issues that limit the amount of work and type of job.
It has worried me a lot for the past few years although the last couple of weeks I've relaxed more and decided that money isn't everything anyway, plus a few things have happened that have my hopes and spirits up at the moment.
But I wonder what it would be like to have plenty of money, would life still seem tough in other ways? I know that rich people do feel a lack of purpose often enough because I've seen them pretty desperate to find a cause. However, I already have plenty of causes, just not enough money to support them.
Here's to everyone who needs money--hope some comes your way!

Hi,
The subject of money has been a sore spot for me for close to 30 years.
I lived on a farm, in a very patriaral so I worked hard like everyone else, but was never paid a thin dime for anything I did. Partly because I am a woman and was expected to do it all for free, and that was what most of the farm women, could expect.
Turned into a real problem when the wives leave or whatever, and they ahve nothing.
I am now on CPP disability, and will be for the rest of my life. I do get some in support payments, but with the price of accommodation here, I can't live out on my own. I am presently living, and the primary caregiver for my elderly mother.
This is all posing a big problem now, because my daughter is getting married in the fall. Will be a big affair and all. I just can't carry all of the expenses I need to cover.
I felt very low today, when my daughter offered to buy my dress. It is a large wedding, he is a dentist, she is a chartered accountant. I am pretty sure that I make way less than what either of them pays in income tax. Just the way it is. She had offered before but I had declined. When I added in the hotel room, the gas and all the other stuff that I am sure will come up for in the way of expenses.
I have enough to eat, and have a roof over my head, enjoy good friends so I think that I will just enjoy that for now and just let the rest come, the way it comes. Have realized that it isn't going to change the situation any to worry about it. Just try to take care of things as they come.
Take care. Sorry for the rambling. It was just the issue of the dress cost, was dealt with today with my daughter.
They say the dress looks good. Which is fine because I went out and bought it by myself, just over and hour after I started. In that hour I went to three dress stores and just went with the one I had fallen in love with.
Figured there was not point in going any further.

I have never been in the position that I have had very much money.
I started work when I was young and "retired' to farm life when I was in my early twenties. The few years that I was on my own I did not too bad. After getting involved in a farm, my money was just kind of sucked away.
Now I am on my own again. I had little money when I was married, and have even less now.
Know it sounds corny but I do try to do things that are nice for people The kind of thing like smiling to strangers when walking down the street, opening doors, and especially, taking care of my friends. I know in the end that if I needed anything that they would be there for me.
I probably should think about money more than I do. I think that would just scare me.
Like to keep in mind the story of the old rich man, that was close to dying and would tell the nurses that "His mercedes never came to visit him from the parking lot".
That does sound corny. Must have taken an extra dose of sappy pills this morning.
Take care

Unfortunately, you and I share the same experience. Though I realize that yours is a much more difficult situation, having to go without so you children don't.
Until my separation, we didn't have a lot, we did always have enough to eat.
After reading too many stories about people that don't have enough food, I can relate to having to go hungry, because you can't afford food.
You have a very good attitude towards it though. You end off with, "as long as they are fed, clothed and we have a roof over our head, I am happy to be right where I am".
Go Jamie, you deserve good things to happen to you.

I agree that money does not buy happiness... but it sure does hurt when you don't have it, huh?
I always thought that it must be nice not to worry about money; but then I think - most people in this world MUST worry about money. It is only a select few who don't have to think about it, therefore, don't have to worry about it. I'm not alone - know that more after reading this thread. Thanks all!!!!

Very true,
If I had the choice of being happy with some money, that would be good for a try.
It is funny that winners ( what adapted with to this influx of "suddern money") that did get large prices, a lof of them plan to kep their jobs. Mind there must be some people that are unhappy. I suppose to them they just tell their bosses sr**w you.
No you have piqued my interest.
After I sign off I am going to goole some of those big winners from days gone by.
Reinterate, if I had that chance to be either rick or poor, would probably choose the rich. Wonder how many "distant relatives" would come into the picture.
