Constant blank mind

Postby Nightwish » Sun Apr 28, 2013 7:44 am

First of all let me introduce myself ,
I'm new to this community and I've joined because I struggle with blank mind/no thoughts at all. I've experienced this on a several occasions through my life , but I was never stucked in a state like this for more then 3-4 hours. Now I find it hard to communicate with people because of this and it's getting harder to function as each day passes. It's like I have no thoughts at all , no internal monologue , no passion in life , just BLANK!
Please give me some insight.
Kind Regards

Heya nightwish, and welcome.

I havent really experienced this as badly as this, ive experienced similar but not at those lengths of time, so im not sure how much help i can be.

but how often do you interact with people? do you get much day to day communication?

maybe tell us some more about it, what happens exactly when you get like this, are you around people, are you doing anything, on your own, are you aware your mind is blank whilst its like that, or is it only when you come back into thought that you realise you had been blank for that time?

hopefully someone else in the forum can help some more with this one :)

Hi nightwish;
My mind tends to race, filling with thoughts that get stuck or go round and round till my mind is so full it's like white noise. I can't find words. I can't make decisions. Is that what it's like?

I'm sorry to kinda high jack this post but this same thing happens to me. It is like an overwhelming number of stimuli. My brain cant process everything so it just goes blank. This happens when I get in social situations. I'm a naturally a more reserved guy. But in the past I have been able to thrive in social situations of all kinds. But I went through an intense 3-4 years of depression and anxiety and now my anxiety gets my brain racing and all the stimuli of my racing thoughts plus the social situation gets too much and my brain shuts down. I don't know how to stop it. It affects my ability to make real connections with people. I don't know if that is like what you go through frame. Does anyone have any insight to this?

Yes Ilium i feel' blank' a lot. Athough, its when im by myself too, not even just social siutations now i.e. i just have thoughts about why im so empty. How long do your blank periods last? For me it's like I have forgotten myself/ how I even used to start a conversation. My blank periods now can last weeks even, and it's so stressful :(
