I wrote this years ago when I was thinking about the questions my son would ask one day. Now that he is older the questions have started and I am finding that I am not any closer to the answer now then I was then.
Tell Me Mommy
Looking at my son
I know a day is going to come
When he asks where's my daddy, what's his name
Did you love him, did he feel the same
I've seen his photograph
But I've never heard him laugh
Never have I seen him smile or have him hold me near
Tell me mommy why aint he here
Doesn't he love me
Didn't he want to be a family
Why doesn't he want me, why doesn't he care
When I've needed him he's never been there
Why didn't you make him stay
How could he find out about me and just walk away
Why wasn't I important
Do you know how much it would of meant
If he had been there when I took my first fall
It should of been him who taught me how to play ball
I see all my friends with their old man
Tell me mommy, I just don't understand
If he loved us why did he go
Don't you think I have a right to know
Do you even know where he is
Just where has he been during all this
Wasn't I reason enough to make him stay
Or am I the reason why he went away
All of these years not a letter or a call
Do you think he thinks about me at all
Or do you think he's forgotten
About you and him
About the life the two of you created
Is it me that he hated
Am I the reason that he's not here today
Did I make daddy go away
Did he not want to watch me grow
Tell me mommy, I need to know
Tell Me Mommy

I love this so much. I am an empath and can feel the pain you are preparing for, for when he asks you those questions. Stay strong. You are not alone.
