Jesus Christ;
We're so may Christians (sorry to leave out the rest of you but this is about me);
We're not Jesusians [or even Jesuits]. Jesus is Christ because he was crusified.
We're worshipping crusifiction, the death penalty reserved for the worst of Roman crimes.
Why are we christians worshipping such heinous torture? Maybe that explains the way I feel.

Or are we saying we're better than every body else because our God bought it in big way?
I don't know.
I don't know.
I don't know.

But I bought a nice little set of the holy family from the thrift store today. It's for the nativity scene I'm putting together.

I'm kind of afraid. I don't want this year to end without me. But I don't think it's going to wait. No one else does. Not very patiently anyway. And where are the sparkly lights and the soft music? They're drowned by sirens and motorcycles and Cop cars and traffic signals. Give to Ceasar....

And the candles and incense; burning tires and diesel. Give to Nero what is....

And you know what the Nut Cracker Suite has been up to.

The Holly Berries, Mistletoe, and tinsel. It was a dream then; it's a nightmare now. I'm cold. But that's OK.
I'm sad.

And we're celebrating the birth of Christ, who would later be crucified for our redemption...

Some lawmakers are attempting to take the word 'Christ' out of Christmas! Don't they have anything better and worthwhile to do? (like fighting Obamacare) Some atheists are fighting to remove nativity scenes from the private property of churches and homes. What the...? We have freedom of speech and expression in this country. Maybe they don't get it- that this is America. (land of the free)!

I'm happy for you, Frame. It's good you found a nativity scene to construct in your home. Enjoy putting it up, as it is your God-given right to do so. I hope you find some awesome lights. :-)

((( Frame ))) Spiritual struggles are hard, and I get it is hard to connect to a deep meaning of a holiday when its turn more into merchandising than to a real meaning.

I find it hard to relate though, I was raised and atheist, and found God through a different path.

Still, I strive to find a personal meaning to the holidays, one that may connect me to that higher power, wanna call it Christ, God, Gaia, whatever.

I hope you can find a meaning to it, a meaning to go through the rituals, maybe not the "religious" meaning, or one that is influenced or understood by those around you, but a personal one. One that makes lighting a candle a real gesture of love and connection and not just a ritual.
