He won't seek help
My partner has suffered from depression since childhood and went through counselling and drug treatments as a teenager. His depression has been getting worse of the past year and he won't seek any help. He doesn't work, and doesn't go out so I'm the only person he ever sees. He does nothing around the house except sit on the computer all day. He only has a shower once every 3 months or so and hides in his dressing gown with the hood up so I can't see his face. He's recently got very reluctant to give me any money from his benefits to pay for food, etc, as he says he doesn't have any. He says sounselling is no good and doesn't like the effects of drugs. I try to listen to him him but he won't talk to me. I try very hard to be supportive but it's so difficult as I can't see the situation changing while he won't get help. He's not even signed on with a doctor so I can't see his GP to get help. Please could someone give me some advice as I don't know what to do to help him.
i have been like your partner and it is not a pleasant place to be,
but i looked at my wife one day and looked into her eyes and saw that it was not fair on her.
so i went and got treatment from a hypnotherapist who managed to take the edge off my predicament from then on i took control of my illness.
he must realise that this is hurting you and if he truly loves you he will have the courage to try and take controll of his illness.
i take high potency vitamins instead of meds b complex-relieves stress,zinc-helps the brain and immune system, vitamin c , adreno tone helps with stress management etc a naturopath can help you.
make sure he has protein through the day and limit his sugar and no fizzy drinks at all, sugar takes the body and mind on a roller coaster ride.
hope this helps and don't forget to care for yourself.

Funnily enough I was just starting to look into the nutritional side of things. He's vegetarian so it's not always easy, but I was going to start with Omega 3. However, I'll have a look at the vitamins and start him on some of those as well. Unfortunately he's not yet ready to try anything like hypnotherapy, but hopefully he'll reach the stage that you did and make the decision to start fighting back.
Thanks so much for your advice.
