Consistency in the Face of their Inconsistency

Postby CitM » Fri Mar 08, 2013 9:21 pm

The first time I tried to talk to my first doctor about the problems I had with people who were constantly changing 'the game,' he talked about being consistent in the face of other people's inconsistencies.

It seems impossible at first. Why should I be consistent (at the time diagnosed with bipolar disorder) in the face of their inconsistency? After all I'm the patient aren't I? I'm the one that's hurt?

But actually, after a certain time when the illness recedes and wellness is more a part of your pattern, that is the only way to handle the issue. If they continue to act obtusely, irrationally, irresponsibly, "do your own thing." Do not under any circumstances add fuel to the fire.
