It amazes me how many depressed people have a victim mentality. It REALLY bothers me to see that. No one can help them except themselves. Noah Levine said, "Happiness is not a birthright. You have to work at it. "
You want it to be different? It's up to you to get the help. Up to YOU to work with professionals.
Want to be whole? GET TO WORK ON IT.
In the words of Bob Marley:
Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery;
None but ourselves can free our minds.

Let me temper what I've just written. I'm not suggesting at all that its not okay to be depressed or sad... Anxious. I have been there in spades. Crying publicly and not fully understanding why. I know about self loathing. I know, intimately, the insidiousness of depression and how in slides into your mind and soul like a very stealthy snake... Or fog, even. I know that it seems utterly impossible to face into the wind when depression is present. Sometimes you are just IN IT and there's nothing to be done about it. At least at that moment or a bunch of successive moments.
But even in this crippled state, it is possible to seep out help of a professional. Even if that first meeting is mostly you just crying. That's the way it was with our marriage counselor. I cried that whole first appointment. I also broke down in my psychiatrist's office. But, I limped to get that help. My wish for anyone reading this far (bless you for doing that!) is to limp, crawl... Whatever you need to do to get to. A professional and start the process. It's work, but it's the best kind of work. Best of all luck to you.
