Where I am

Postby girlblue » Wed Jun 16, 2010 10:49 pm

I have been depressed since my sister died last August. In the midst of this, I opened my own practice and now I am faced with having to close it. I have been feeling acutely suicidal for the past 6 weeks or so, spending many hours researching different methods for doing this gruesome act. Many people recommended that I get counseling, but I declined. WHen I finally decided to get help, God cleared my mind and I no longer feel suicidal. Now I am feeling overwhelmed with the weight of all the responsibilities of closing my business. I wish it was as easy as declaring bankruptcy. Now that my mind is clear, I pray that God would give me the "crazy" thoughts again so I didn't have to face these big issues. I have no idea where to turn. Anyone with any words of wisdom?

Losing a love one does play on our minds. Words of wisdom, no I don't have any. Just know that I have tried to take one day at a time. Do what I can, and yes say prayers. Feel the ones we lost wouldn't want us to just 'give up', so with that in mind I go forward.

Perhaps seek professional help? Know that has probably been said a hundred times, but it is practical, if you consider that route.

Take care.....post again, and welcome to our forums and family....

Therapy, just like medicatin, are tools that we use. There are many tools out there at our disposal. They are the tools, but we still do the work. If you find it hard to talk to someone try going someplace where you feel safe and write it all out. Get all of it down on paper. Then give the doc what you wrote. It makes communication a lot easier. I'm sorry you are having to close your business. I found that when I get seriously overwhelmed, meditation helps a lot. Just sit and listen to all the sounds around you. Recognise them one at a time and file it away in your mind. Once you reach the end of the sounds, concentrate on how you breathe. Try to imagine the air as it comes in and out of your lungs. Listen to your heart beating. Concentrate just on that. Nothing else. Just you breathing. There is peace to be found in nothingness.
