I have been visiting the chat for over a year now, and I have formed great friendships with some of the members here. I feel that I am obliged to share this with you guys and hopefully give you something interesting to read.
During my stay I met some wonderful people. It was a mix of all types. Addicts, depressed, Schyzoaffective, BPD, you name it. All adults, some with family others without, but we all had something in common. One way or another we were all depressed. We came together as a family and learned so much from one another, definitely the best experience of my life. I can´t say I´m fully recovered, I´m still in recovery, but now I have the tools to fight it, and possibly keep it locked up for good.
There are 3 main things that are vital for recovery. But there is one quintessential word you have to embrace with all of your might for this to work...... HUMILITY!
1. Consult a therapist: You have to start from the very beginning all those bad memories from the past, you need to rip them out and shine light on them. It will be extremely hard, but you must build courage, repression is one of the worst things you can do. Many of us are lost and all we need is a guide, please consult a therapist.
2. Medication: You can´t put all your hopes on medication, because most of the effort comes from YOU. But they are definitely helpful and help you progress much quicker. Again, medication will not work miracles for you, your recovery is pure willpower!
3. Spirituality: Im not here to envoke any sort of pressure on anybody, but I will tell you this. Whatever you believe in, as long as you believe in some sort of superior being you must lach on to it. It takes LOTS and I mean LOTS of humility to just give in. But have some faith, and pray, prayers are VERY powerful and you´ll see some change.
If you have any questions Ill do my best to answer them.
