COPING WITH LIFELONG DEPRESSION

Postby Dot » Mon Feb 27, 2012 12:04 am

:( [color=darkred][/color Hi, my name is Dot. I am 52 yrs old female and have been living with depression all my life to some extent or the other. I also have a list a mile long of my health issues-(mostly neurological in nature) but I would gladly keep my health problems if I could just control my depression. I am a person who when not depressed can be happy and enjoy the very simplest things in life. One thing good I have taken from this difficult infliction of depression is I have learned what really matters in life and most problems are just the little stuff---so I have learned not to sweat the little stuff. when my depression is not bad I make sure I just enjoy life to the fullest because I never know what tomorrow will bring me. I enjoy my husband-children-pets and friends.

What is becoming difficult more and more is when I fall into the dark hole of depression I am becoming less tolerant of its pain. sometimes I feel as if 52 is a ripe old age because I just feel like I don't want to endure anymore pain that depression brings us all. Just want to know how folks on this forum who have suffered this long and are about my age---and also have health problems on top of it---what do you do to continue this difficult journey? Thank you for anyone who can share their thoughts and feelings on this. Many thanks---Dot
