Hi all, new guy here

Postby R.London » Thu Jan 05, 2012 7:29 pm

Hi everyone. Just a quick introduction.

I've had problems with depression since I was 15. On and off tablets, several suicide attempts and some counselling (although that didn't really work for me). It comes and goes, but had been away for a few years, which gave me time to sort my life out.

I'm now a 23 year old with with a great fiancee, a great flat in a great part of London, but the depressions come back. Am beginning to think it's all too much hassle. Am I just being melodramatic?

Thanx
R

Welcome to the forum! Feeling better is never "not worth the hassle", it's a battle that many of us fight each and everyday. Have you been back to the Dr. since the depression has came back? Also, be sure to be open with your fiancee, let them know exactly what you are feeling and allow them to support you through this.

Welcome, R. London. Congratulations on all the hard work and positive things you have done since you were 15. I hope you do continue to seek professional help/support with your reoccurring bouts of depression. I would suggest that you talk to your fiance and maybe together read some books on depression so that she has a better understanding of your struggles. Sometimes, the emotional detachment of a book can help the non depressed person understand things better. Good luck and best wishes on your engagement.

Hi R.London. :)
Sounds you have a lot of great stuff going on in your life atm, congrats. Though great it is being engaged and moving into a new home can be a lot at once. (Speaking from experience here. ;)) So maybe not too surprising your depression seems to shine through atm.
I'm sure you'll pull through, just like the mods said!! :) Take care!!
