self harm scar question (Triggering Material)

Postby keluca » Mon Jul 05, 2010 4:56 am

I Self Harm quite a bit and the cuts seem to have gotten deeper the last few months, my GP knows about it and she keeps an eye on the wounds but I just wondered if someone who has wounds that have healed can help me out a little

I have quite a few that have healed over but they are quite a high raised scar now, they are very red (which Im not too bothered about because I know I caused them and no-one will see them) but even though they were done months ago and have healed they are still quite sore to touch (or even when clothing touches they can take my breath at times)

Is it normal for them still to be sore at this stage?

No it's not, sounds like an infection to me, did you tell your gp about that?

I haven't no, she has seen them and when they were open I ended up having anti biotics for them, but I presumed because they were deeper it would take longer to heal

Well yes, longer. But not months. Ask your GP for advice.

Glad that you were able to get to the doctor and get some cream for them.

Did that behavior quite a while ago. I was able to stop it but it took a lot of work at a therapist. Still am scarred though.

It is an illness that is hard to share with anyone, other than a professional.

Do you have a psychiatrist or therapist that you could talk to about it.
Too touchy a subject to talk to with friends.
