Ive seen a psychologist twice now, for the first time in my life ive started talking about my issues...
She mentioned something about caffeine and depression/anxiety disorder making it worse
So i have given up drinking coca cola (i never drink coffee or tea anyway)
This has been hard for me as i drank a lot of coke (probably added to my weight issue) - probably 1 litre a day...
I dont drink alcohol, smoke, gamble or do drugs or even eat badly - coke was one my one vice and ive given that up in hopes that it will help me improve as a person and get my family back
anyone know if thats true with caffeine?

I suffer from chronic depression, mattyj. I believe there are always underlying causes.
Anything that worsens underlying causes will worsen depression. But many of our 'bad' habits are also coping mechanisms. So I think we have to weigh the trade offs.
Two things: Sugar is an inflammatory and while we need energy, drinking sugary substances causes our bodies all kinds of aches, pains, and slower thinking. Ending that is super.
Next; My experience is, when I was on antidepressants, caffeine interacted to make me feel physically kind of sick and I had to give it up. I also believe it can increase the highs and the lows while the meds are supposed to decrease them. (Matter of fact sugar will do the same thing.) I love my cup of coffee. It keeps me going. But I often enough wish it were a habit I didn't need.
Bottom line is anything as amplifies cycling as opposed to dampening can be a problem.

stimulants
i drink a pot of coffee and smoke 3 or 4 cigarettes in the morning. can't seem to get myself off the ground without it. i've cut out sugar tho for several reasons: mood swings, protect my teeth and reduce the risk of diabetes
