Daddy

I’m Seven Today.
She wrote to him though deep inside she knew he was only pretend.
Daddy hurt me again with his words today.
She had made him herself just to have someone to love. To have someone to love her.
Daddy played ball with me, and helped me to ride my new bike. Daddy even smiled. I asked him “Daddy are you proud of me?” Then his smile went away. His eyes hurt when he looked at me. He said “Maybe I would be if you were a boy.” He took my ball, he let me fall, he turned and walked away.
As she wrote she could feel the tears on her face, they fell onto the paper.
But that was not all Daddy said today. I wasn’t supposed to hear. He and mommy were fighting again, I was trying to hide. Daddy said he didn’t love us. He said he used to be happy, before we ruined his life.
Daddy hurt me again with his words today.
She sat in the corner with her knees to her chest. Crying. Wishing she had someone to love her.
