The Challenge For Yourself! (Bring it on now!) ~lol~

Postby crystalgaze » Tue Feb 23, 2010 9:31 am

If you are about to do a challenge, why not put it here?

Alright.....

The challenge I have for myself is to eat soup--at least 1 big bowl every day--or so for about 3 months.

Reason:

> I need a way to incorporate herbal teas/more liquid into my day. I'd like to see if they will help get my testosterone & prolactin levels in check (even if only by a little bit).

> At least, 3 months is the time frame because I will need to go back & do blood work then to check the levels. If the levels go down, I will continue. (I guess)

Keeping it simple: Soup will mostly be broth. I'll probably add spinach leaves when I want to eat it.... For protein, I may use tuna or eggs or beans.

Id I can't stand it like that any more, I may add noodles/pasta. Maybe I will lose weight, too.... I dah know.... It's more of a health thing, more than anything else.

Herbal teas to use are 3 tablespoons each of Gotu Kola, Burdock, & Parsley (parsley because I want to). Gotu Kola + Burdock is said to be good for brain health, a healthy pituitary gland, & promoting hormone balance. The pot I used for this is sort of big/tall for the whole week & I may only put in 2 tablespoons each in next week's pot or so.

Broth is mostly water, 1 can of reduced sodium chicken broth + 1 box of reduced sodium turkey broth (for flavor), & 12 oz of the herbal tea mixture.

It was seriously BLAH, BLEH so I added 1 tablespoon of sea salt. It still tasted MEH, so I added a teaspoon & it was perfect--not too salty, not too BLEH--but I may still try to go for less salt next time!

Okay.... I think that's about it....

Something I really need to get to grips with is tidying my home! I was making a certain amount of progress before going back to work last November, suffering a ( Fortunately minor!!!! ) head injury in January, and then getting myself back to work again in February, all of which rather distracted me from tidying.
Being particularly tidy certainly isn't a symptom of my depression. ( Sigh!

((((((((((((((Tacking)))))))))))))))))))

Everyone, I decided that I will modify my challenge to myself.... Broth every day is asking too much! I could probably drink tea every day!

So I'm thinking of something along the lines of wellness tea maybe....
