I swear, sometimes it seems like the universe needs to balance its scales... I had a great week last week. Came into work today. Made two client-affecting mistakes and screwed up my time sheet that resulted in a comment about "we'd really like to keep trusting you, but..."

I suppose its okay to feel upset or down about screw-ups like that. They were mistakes. Certainly not malicious in any sense.

Not happy today. Quite down. But, I know, days like that will happen. I know the feelings are only temporary. But right now, they kinda suck. Oi oi oi oi

Ken Burns' show prohibition was on my public TV station last night. It talked about the origin of "free lunch". Saloons would give you salty food when you bought beer ... so you would buy more beer.

Interesting thing about the prohibition movement was the disparate reasons people had for proposing prohibition. The program made a big deal out of the fact that no one asked the people in the saloons what they thought. No free lunch doesn't mean that the comped lunch isn't an acceptable deal.

I have made it through the Christmas holidays for another year.

I feel relieved and a little sick, like after a Carnival Ride that you take on a dare. I feel like saying "See I did it. No, I didn't like it. I'm doing it again until next year." I guess I feel the same way about paying my taxes every April.
