Depression and Age

Postby freeandeasyo » Mon May 07, 2012 4:13 pm

I'm really very sad to see so many young people depressed in their lives, but I can understand it.
I'm 61 years old, and some of the things that depress me may also contribute to your depression.
One thing I do know is that the culture in my country (Canada), as I am sure it has in the states, has been radically changed for the worse since I was a kid. I know there a lot of complicated 'reasons' for this, but I think that advertising bears a huge responsibility for the decline from a much friendlier and more human-being oriented culture to one that is driven my money, acquisition and consumerism.
Am I alone in thinking this way?

I think these are definitely contributing factors. However, I do think that our society lives a much more sedentary lifestyle than in the past, which can have a huge impact on mental health as well.
