UNTRIGGERED

I was going to post this on the TRIGGERED file but then thought it deserves its own as it's the opposite of that subject.
I was sat in the shopping precinct listening to music on my walkman, feeling miserable and just watching people walking about. Nobody paying any notice to me at all.
Out of the throng comes this woman talking with someone and pulling a little girl (6-7) along by the hand. She looked like she would rather be anywhere than this shopping trip.
I was at the same hieght as the girl and she looked me right in the eye as she went by. On impulse I stuck my tongue out at her. She immediatly stuck hers out back at me. This made me smile, and she returned it with one of the most beautiful smiles I ever seen, that lit up her whole face and, for that brief moment, my world. Then she was gone again, but I was grinning like an idiot for hours.
It still makes me smile now over 15 years later.
And I like to think it still makes her smile too.
