I used to live in a very small town and would enjoy all of the wildlife that I would see in the fields.

I can remember one summer where a herd (or whatever you call a lot of them) of deer made a home near to town. Often we would see them out if in the fields. The funny thing was that one of them just had 3 legs, but kept up just fine with the others.

Now I live in a city and don't see those kind of things anymore. Mind you I was at a concert in the basement of a church, and a bat flew in and made a few rounds of the room then was able to find his way back outside. Suppose it had something to do with his ability to hear.

Certainly was a surprise to all of us.

White Paw in the grass....

(White Paw is what I call the neighbor's dog.)

A strange thing has been happening lately. When I step out onto the porch or the stairs, the lizards have been running on my toes!! It's a pretty weird feeling....

I threw some crackers out for the wild chicken..... (They weren't so scatterbrained today.)

a bug I don't particularly like on the curtain....

Then, when I found out that it had crawled in between the closed window & only APPEARED to be on the curtain.... I really thought it was rather strange for the bug to on the underside of the curtain, such that I could see the top of it.... (I mean.... I figured if I'm standing outside the window, I'd see the under part of it.... Ah well.... I'm thinking too much! Argh! I'm going to stop now before I hurt my brain!!)

a white & orange patch cat running out of the bush....

the largest centipede I've ever seen in my whole life (& I heard they get bigger)

& the most amazing one when I was sitting on the side steps (the lucky steps), after opening the door:

a humming bird (I think it was) that surprised me & swooped down next to the St. John's Wort plant I was sitting by.... To be honest, I thought it was 1 of those huge black bees that I don't want to be stung by ever in life. Then, when I looked at it again, it was a black hummingbird with bright royal blue coloring on its face. It was pretty, & I couldn't believe how it flitted around in front of me & so closely to me before it left. I could literally reach out & touch it. (Those wings were flapped at the speed of.... I don't know what, but it was super fast.)

I call the side steps the lucky steps because plants do well there. The previous aloe plant I had in the step that was looking poorly is doing better--& it's on that step. The St. John's Wort plant is throwing pretty pink flowers & it's also in a pot on that same step. Virtually everything put on that step grows....

Mr. Squirrel sitting on my back deck. Isn't afraid of me in the least. I said 'Good morning', he shook his furry tail at me. Guess that is 'squirrel talk' for good morning back at you.

Wow.... Mr. Squirrel understands you! Cool!

Today I saw 2 new dogs on the step! I opened the door & was like  I think I said, "Oh wow!"

On the gruesome side, I saw the ants strip a bug.... It was, um, too much!

I saw a lizard on the step rail with all these cobwebs hanging from it. It was odd. It's kind of late for Halloween....

~lol~ Mr. Squirrel isn't pregnant, right? (I was never able to tell the gender of those things!) Maybe it's just for hibernation.....

My neighbor said it was a 'he' so guessing 'he' is getting ready for hibernation time. Will miss seeing him outside my door once winter gets here. But, come spring, I will be watching for him.

Yesterday, I saw a bright lemon-lime colored iguana running across the lawn!!

I was just like.... Okay now....

I was trying to chase a baby lizard out the door yesterday, but it wouldn't go out at all. Somehow, it got onto the dish rack, & when I looked at it, the poor thing was clinging on for dear life, so I left it alone.

It was still on the rack this morning. It didn't look like it moved at all.... I just picked up the rack & went outside & banged it on the wall/shook it to get the lizard off of it.... I had to do it quite a bit, since it would not come off with all that I did....

Open my door, when it isn't frozen shut and see lots of ice and snow. Even Mr. Squirrel isn't going out. :)

Lots of things have found me at different times while I've been recovering:

    deer (& with antlers!)
deer hiding behind some tall grass
baby frogs on the back stairs
huge daddy/mommy frogs (2 different ones) on/near the steps
    cat underneath Mom's car
2 cats on 2 walls across the street with an egret in between them
    paw prints on the car
cat on the back road trying to catch some food
wild chicken sitting in a group
    centipede on the porch
