Hi everybody! Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Bayu, I'm currently a postgraduate architect and design student from the University of New South Wales in Sydney. I'm doing a unique project right now to do research about major depressive disorder (MDD) and then come up with an idea to design an environment or space which can help people who's struggling with depression to feel better and relaxed in this designed space. I did a study case from a friend of mine who's struglling with depression because of his traumatic experience going through his parent's divorce. He changed from a cheerful, open, and social person into someone who closed himself from everybody and constantly feeling abandoned, lonely and hurt. He always felt that no one cares about him and he's completly lonely all the time, which is not entirely true because from my study case observation he does have a lot of people who loves and care about him, but he refuses to believe that and won't give his trust since he's still traumatic for being neglected by his parents.
I came up with this idea to design a special interior design of his room, the main idea is to design a special bed which has empty wooden frames around the upper part and will be filled with films of photographs of all positive places, people and moments he cheerish in the past. behind the frames, some kind of projector lights will be placed so when its turned on, these photographs will be projected beautifully all around the bedroom walls. The idea came from his childhood habit where he used to put action figures around his bedroom before he went to sleep because he said that these action figures were his favourite toys and makes him feel protected, safe and taken care of.
I posted the link to the colored sketch of the design if you wanna have a look. I'm very keen to hear everybody's opinions and feedbacks about this project. Thanks!
