What words can bring you out of the darkness?
When you were in your darkest moments, what was said or thought that brought you back, gave you hope or made you realize that ending things wasn't the way to go?
Re: What words can bring you out of the darkness?
Whn I´ve been feeling my lowest and suicidal I tend to think of my family. My grandparents really. How hurt they would be if I did something terrible. I´m unsure of any specific words, just the feelings of upsetting others tend to help me get out of a dark hole.

"I promise I will never do that again."
These words I spoke to my youngest son seven years ago as he and my husband stared at me as I was handcuffed and loaded into an ambulance.

When I was at my lowest I knew the only way was up and in time I would get better and that I didn’t want to die just wanted the pain to stop which it eventually does I now find myself in the same situation but know I will be ok

The two things I have on my fridge are:
1. Don’t let your emotions hijack your day.
2. Your future self will regret anything that’s not in line with your best self.
They are small and simple reminders, but they help keep me on track when even little decisions are hard.

Sometimes, it’s as simple as hearing someone say, “I’m here for you” or “You’re not alone.” When you're feeling lost or overwhelmed, knowing that someone sees you and cares can feel like a light in the darkness.
Other times, words like “This will pass” or “You are stronger than you know” can help shift perspective, reminding someone that tough moments are temporary. Even when it's hard to believe, hearing that things can get better gives hope.
For me, personally, words that encourage growth and resilience—like “You’ve got this” or “One step at a time”—remind me that even in the hardest times, I can move forward, even if it’s just a small step.

In my darkest moments, I reminded myself that I’ve faced tough times before and made it through. I thought about the people who care about me and the future I still have to build. It helped me hold on to hope and keep moving forward.

Many times thinking to myself/reminding myself that I've been here before keeps my head above water. I can say up to each impossible moment that I have a perfect winning streak, and odds have me being okay again.
