Hey all
Just want to Highly recommend Hypnosis to every1, I went for my 8th or 9th session today...its taken that many to make me see the light & so worth it..Its like your own time machine back to the event which made you unhappy, sad, angry, rejected, worthless and you can acknowledge it and deal with it over time
Believe me when I say I've been a manic depressive for the last 4years and even now when Im feeling okay the depressive negaive thought pattern is still in my head, bad habits die hard I suppose
I know the way your feeling guys/girls...
It can be defeated though
HYPNOSIS!

Glad that the hypnosis worked for you Stephen.
I thought about it but have never been able to relax enough to do a simple meditation so am unsure that it would work on me.
I did go through a rather tough spot a couple of years ago. Due to the movie images that goes along with the movie portrayals of ECT (shock therapy), which BTW are totally different from what happens now. ECT is a very controlled, humane procedure. I had resisted to suggestion for several years. I got to the point that I think someone made the decision for me (though a pain at times I am grateful that I still remembered the important things in my life, but I have a long period of time for which there is no memory, from what people told me of my situation I think it is a blessing)
It worked for me. I know that not many people get a second chance, I did and I will not waste it.
I think that is a great advantage of following a depression forum. It tosses out different ideas for people to look at.
The cheese does not stand alone.

wow yeah I would really love to give this a go but i doubt i can afford it. I have so many unanswered questions about what has gone on in my life to lead to this point.
Did it really reveal things to you? How do you know it's real stuff and not your mind playing tricks?
I sometimes wonder if I have repressed memories.
I'd love to know more about your experience with hypnosis!

Do you think hypnosis works for smoking as well? Has anyone heard anything about that?

I suppose that going the hypnosis route is the same as most thing that are associated with the medical system.
Not all clinicians are equal in there ability to practice their specialties. I have dealt with many over the years and have found several to be just, duds.
I had a friend that used hypnonsis in her therapy, and if you want to talk about clinicans who are duds, Erin got one of them.
Glad on two fronts for you. First of all that you had the courage to do the hypnosis route in treating your difficulties, and that you found one that was a good fit for you.
I have had ECT (shock therapy) and that turned out ok for me (not all are that fortunate), looking forward to hearing more about your experience with hypnosis therapy.

I am seriously considering going to hypnosis to stop smoking again. I can't take the same pills I did last time to quit, because I am on something else for my anxiety. Anyone know anything about it?

aim, my son is in the same boat.
He has been smoking for several years. I want so badly for him to stop, he has a little girl now and she will need him to be around for many years.
I don't know what the cost is of cigarettes in other places. Here the prices have gone through the roof. Since Ethan is also on meds, and tried Wellbutrin to stop last time. He needs something different.
Like aim, I would like to know of other suggestions on how to stop smoking.
Thanks

It was Wellbutrin that stopped me last time, Monty. Cigarettes are outrageously expensive, and since I have finally found the right man for me, I want to stop to spend my life with him, and build a family with him. Help anyone, please!

According to me,hypnosis is not the same as sleep and isn't like an anesthetic. That is, when a person is hypnotized, he doesn't lose control over his mind or his feelings, rather then his body is highly relaxed. When chosen rightly, hypnosis treatment can help every one make powerful, permanent changes in their life.
