Citalopram - tiredness

Postby dziga » Tue Jun 15, 2010 5:11 am

Hi, I have been on Citalopram 10mg for 4 weeks now and the tiredness is still a problem - I have tried taking my tablet at different times but the tiredness remains. I know ADs take a few weeks to work so wondered if the tiredness will be likely to lift? Thanks :)

Hi. Sometimes it takes 4 to 6 weeks for them to work. And if the med is increased the tiredness can linger, but if it is becoming to bothersome, affecting your daily life I'd say give your doctor a call and ask their opinion and tell them how it makes you feel.

I have been on it about 5 weeks now. It isn't tiredness that is the problem, I can sleep for 12 or more hours all the time. I hate that.

Wow, how do you do that? With meds or just how your body works? I am lucky to get 2 to 4 hours of sleep at a time, then awake, and most times not able to return to sleep.

When I was on those meds I was constantly tired for a good 3/4 months, and I often had trembles in my hands and legs, they all seem to disappear after 3/4 months.

Wow, guess meds work differently for so many. How are you doing now with the meds? Still taking them or switched to something different?

Its taken me 4 weeks of taking citalapram for the tiredness to get to manageable level, i have been off work in that time. most people i know on them havent had a problem, the only one who had the same problem also saw improvements after 4 weeks. my dosage was also increased last week to, this hasnt caused me any problems. i still sleep a lot more than normal, but i see things getting better more quickly than i did weeks ago

Hanging in there seems to be paying off for you with the meds, this is great. Staying with it, improvement, guess it just takes time for the body to adjust.

Good for you! :)
