hey i'm pretty new to all of this and was wondering what triggering was? i've seen it mentioned a few times.

hi ,,if i were to talk about lets say self harming ,,and someone read it who was a self harmer it could upset them ,,ie (trigger an episode ) or raise certain emotions ,,,so if i were to type about self harm ,,i would put possible trigger in the title by doing this it stands as a notice ,
to warn users of the possible content .We all suffer in differant ways ,but also share a lot of the same pain so dont be afraid to talk about things that may upset others ,but just pop a warning in there and then users have to the chioce to read it or move on ,,,Very good question to ask smh..
and very conciderate also ,,and that is how i understand the meaning of a (Trigger) xn728

Triggers can be diverse appears in different forms like of individual person, place, noise or image like if we talk about trauma trigger than some time it gets exacerbate in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder which is a condition in which trauma survivors cannot control their physical and emotional symptoms.

It can be cure by therapy that is by creating safe environment like where survivor will not feel threatened and also feel safe with the occurrence of situations and this will somewhere leads them to come over from all such problems that are coming in their memories due to which they find difficulty in getting over this.
