Anger Issue

As much as I hate to admit it....i think i have anger issues, i snap at people quite easily these days :( . Which is so not me at all. It worries me, and it worries me a lot, not good for me to have this anger when i deal with people almost everyday (people - students), and those people can be very stressful sometimes. I try to breathe and count to ten, it helps me so far, to calm down and all that. But i am afraid that i might do something stupid when i am angry and trust me, i had done something really bad when i was angry the other day. Any suggestion on how to control my anger?

thanks

Think of something funny. If you can make yourself laugh, I find it's a good way to take yourself " off the boil " as it were. It won't solve whatever angered you, but it might just give you just a second's diversion that might help you hold on to your temper. ( There's a comedy routine I saw as teenager by two British comedians called Mocambe and Wise. And, it always makes me smile to think of it. I find it very difficult to laugh and really lose my temper at the same time.)
Also, another thing that happens to help me is that I've made it a habit that if I'm losing my temper I leave the room, house, whatever. However angrily I might be stomping away, i know that I won't hurt anyone!

Do you know where the anger is coming from? I mean, does something trigger it that you are aware of or is it "just there" unexpectedly? Controlling any emotion is tough and you know it works differerent for each of us, but do something simple. It could be from taking a walk to punching a pillow. The only outlet that works for me is to work, like anything physical. Cleaning, yardwork, give the pets a bath :) Maybe it's just a build-up of thoughts and worries. Take more time out for yourself if you can. Instead of TV or the computer go get a manicure or massage when you have time. Something that would make you feel good.

You aren't an angry person by nature, you have shown that by your caring for everyone here. I'm sorry if I haven't helped much but I just want you to know that you have every right to be angry at times and that doesn't make you a bad person just because it may happen when you don't want it to. Personally, I think anger gives a little energy boost and the more energy you have the more you can accomplish. :)

My thoughts are with you,
Misty

Hi there dande! Wow! Sorry to hear you're having a bit of a time there....

Hhmm.... Okay.... Let's see.... Is there any way to excuse yourself from the people for a quick moment? (like Tacking suggested)

~whisper~ When you get IT, it should help with how you feel.

I would do like what Misty encouraged.... search yourself to find what is bothering you.

Can you hum? Maybe humming a tune.... How about a stress ball? Um... I'm not sure if that's what you call it, but it is something that's soft & you can squeeze + roll around in your hand(s), when you are stressed.

My mom teaches & she has one of those.... She uses it & sometimes throws it across the room (at home).

How about a snow globe? You might be able to use that in the presence of people. You turn it upside down & watch the confetti/snow fall. Repeat as many times as you need it.

???

I hope something helps.

Hugs to you dear lady & lots of love! I hope things for you improve soon!

This is also just a thought, but it's not close to that time of the month is it?

Did you have a fight with someone you love? Side effect of coming off meds? Somebody at work bothering you? Friend trigger you? Frustrated with something?

You don't have to post it here.... These are just things that came to mind.

Thanks for the suggestion, there are very very helpful! I think maybe i get angry so easily because i am frustrated at my students performance, its examination week and some of them dont even read books for the exam. I feel kinda stressed out that my students wont do well in an exam. Also i think it is because i got myself triggered at work and it really makes my mood goes sour. Now i try music (i think comedy is a great idea), clean stuff (thanks Misty) and my god! i love snow ball :D. I think thats a great idea too, i might buy one and put them on my desk so i can play with them when i get angry, or even when i feel blue.

Thanks guys, you all are awesome :)

((((((((((dande))))))))))))))) not a problem....

I am now having a resurging anger issue. Oh my goodness! It's unbelievable, but at the same time, the last 2.5 weeks have been something else!

Going back to Valentine's Day, it's been:

1. a breakup (which I am already over mostly, maybe thanks to the extra testosterone  ),

2. this woman I was hoping to work with insulting/hurting me

3. chest pain that I just wish would go away & leave me the heck alone

4. returning to the doctor for my tests results & being examined AGAIN(Oh jeeze, like I needed that!)

5. having the breakthrough

6. being dismissed by the doctor

7. rooster cockling in my **** ear every morning (keeping me awake when I want to go back to sleep, especially when I get up in the middle of the night) This is nothing new, though....

8. angst about going to the doctor

Possible explanation for the anger right now besides the reasons above: hormonal change (monthly either came already, brownish red discharge for roughly 7 days, or will come this Friday or next week, if it comes)

First, I'm going to say that I think I inherited my grandfather's spirit....

Today has been an interesting day so far.... I'm glad I'm home....

I was in the bank today, on the line & as I'm at the front.... This older lady walked up in front of me. & as she did.... something welled up inside me & I just wanted to knock her TFO.....

But then, I thought.... you know, I'd want people to be kind to me in my old age & tried to diffuse the feeling quickly. I was doing a find-a-word puzzle, so I just continued & I waited to see who else was going to step in front of me because I would've cursed them out nastily.

(I told you I was having an Eggman day....)

____________

The other thing is that on the way home, I got to this stoplight where I normally turn, & like, electricians were working on the pole. They were such d*** jack*****..... For whatever reason, they were unable to pull off the road entirely and took up 3/4 of the lane where I'm supposed to drive!! & so, to me, turning the corner was dangerous & I had to reverse & maneuver back under the light, so I could go straight....

There wasn't even anyone there to direct traffic..... Talk about schupid! Schupid ****.....

I was SO annoyed!!

My anger reared it's head last night and again today. Last night at a co-worker and today at a waitress. Just how hard is it to make a burger with no onions? Anyway, I'm trying hard to control it.
