For a long time - I've been on the anti-depressant Cymbalta and about four weeks ago I had gone off of it, completely cold turkey.
I wouldn't recommend this to anyone else since my reaction to going off of it was mild compared to what can happen. All I had experienced was shakiness like my entire nervous system was twitching.
But now that I'm off of it - I notice that nothing is different. I still feel the same way when I was on the drug.
So it does make me wonder if the problem that I have with depression can't be solved with drugs.

I am on Cymbalta right now and have been toying with the idea of going off it to see how much worse I am. I am not sure it is doing much for me now either. It seemed to help a lot in the beginning. Are you going to try another drug? Are you doing talk therapy as another way to combat your depression?

The thought did occur to me but I've had bad experiences in therapy with some of the really dumb-ass questions that my last one had asked me. Though she wasn't really a therapist - she was more of a campus counselor.

Just a word of caution.... & maybe you know this already, but one thing I made sure to do when I went off of my meds is to:
tell someone
so that he/she could watch me to note things that I might miss
(personality changes, mood changes, etc.)
I came off gradually over the course of some months & I haven't turned back to any thing.
If it's possible, if you can do the coming off with your doctor, I would do it that way. Some meds are not meant for you to come off suddenly & could be dangerous. Just make sure to double check the meds' side effects + other warnings. Safety 1st....
One way you might get a doctor to help you come off is if you wish to "change" medications....
These are just some random thoughts. Take care & much love, ~Crystal

I certainly knew the risks when I stopped taking the stuff.
But still, I don't feel any different and no one has said that I"m acting any different either.
