Am I a horrible person?

I spent all Christmas morning in tears because i couldn't be with my children and i wouldn't see them until the night. It hurt because i had never been away from them on Christmas morning

Then at Christmas lunch my aunty and uncle arrive. They lost their 25yo son (my cousin) very suddenly 2 years ago. She arrived and gave me a hug and saw a photo of him and started to cry

I suddenly felt like a really horrible person for wallowing in self pity over my situation, not being able to see my kids until the night, when she can never see her son again

Am i a horrible person?

On a good note i finally think these anti depressants the doctor has me on may be finally starting to work - Its 12:45pm and i haven't cried once today, not even when the kids left this morning

No it doesn't make you a horrible person and you shouldn't judge yourself so harshly. A horrible person wouldn't even worry about being a horrible person.

There is always somebody worse off than ourselves; always. Just because someone is having what you consider to be a worse time than yourself, that doesn't mean it should cancel out your own feelings. Who's to say who is coping better with their feelings/problems, after all, we all have different ways of coping.
