Depressed and Needs Help...

I'm depressed. And not in the same sense of the word as ordinary people having a bad day. I'm depressed with suicidal thoughts on most of my waking hours. This is why I hate to get up in the morning, or afternoon. I can't stop it. I can't help myself. I guess I have some deep-seated inadequacy. I'm not a psycho-analyst. Just trying to find solutions to my problem. Because money-wise, I cannot afford therapy. Are there self-help programs I can get in for free?

I'm not a health care professional but it seems to me Franz, that depression is a complex animal and different for everyone. But in each person, there are underlying issues; depression is a response (I believe a healthy response) not a cause. And for each person a significant portion of the cure is in self discovery.
That can happen in a number of ways; in a group or in solitary, in person with a therapist or here in conversation with fellow members. The is lots of information on the web and here buried in posts about how to cope, stay healthy, move ahead. So a good way to begin a practice of self help might be to introduce yourself a bit more. Ask some specific questions about every day concerns, and use the search button to look for things your interested in. There are a number of specific techniques that are proven to help support your journey, perhaps no easy answers. There is much you can do for yourself.
Welcome.

Franz are you in the US? Sometimes places offer therapy on a sliding scale if you are.

Maybe speaking with your GP or a counsellor will help you overcome your depression and suicidal thoughts?
It helped me in the past, and it could help you.
Maybe you could try distracting yourself.

I can't function without my prozac. maybe talk to your GP about the way you've been feeling and see what you can work out.
