Studying problems

Postby Sophie » Fri Jul 27, 2012 5:02 pm

Hey guys, I`m new to this forum and I came here cause there is no one I can talk to about my problems and I really can`t go through this alone anymore. I`m 20 years old and I`ve been suffering from depression for a long time. When I was at high school, I somehow managed to force myself to finish what I had to do, it wasn`t always on time, but I was fighting and giving my best, so the job was done. After high school, I started preparing for faculty and I didn`t have major problems with studying because I truly wanted to enter the faculty, I was so sure it was the right thing for me. When the academic year started, it all went wrong. A year passed and I haven`t done anything. I just stopped going to the faculty and studying. I truly want to get on the right track but I just can`t. I`ve tried to study so many times, I`ve tried to fix things and move on, but... I just can`t. I am so confused right now because, if I truly loved it, I would be able to study no matter what, right? I doubt myself and my choice so much right now, I simply don`t know what to do and it`s hard because I have no support, nobody from my family cares about me. Has anyone had such problems? Any advice is welcome.

HI. I just wanted you to know that I think the time after high school and during college is one of the most challenging times in life. But you can get thru it.
I am well an old fogey now but years ago after high school and during all my college years, I had major transition problems as I didn't know what to major in and they kept asking! And asking! I did pretty good in High school but I had no clue what I was good at or what profession I should go into. It was a long journey thru that and I made some mistakes but you know I had no support by family either and I did the best I could as I am sure you both are.
Also my depression that I think I had since childhood got worse during this time. And I was well pretty clueless about life and being responsible but I eventually learned how to cope. If you can go see a good counselor or find someone in this group here online to talk too. You both have done really good reaching out and finding a group online and posting. I applaud you for that.
