Faverin & Clonazepam

Postby flyrehc » Tue Dec 23, 2008 10:17 am

I was just diagnosed with Major Depression on Saturday. I was given dosages of 50mg of faverin and 15mg of clonazepam per day. I haven't started on the meds yet because I am still coming to terms with it. I will take them eventually but I need a few days to start. I am also concerned of the drug interactions with alcohol. I am not a frequent drinker, I probably have drinks with friends once a month or so. But Christmas and New Year's are just around the corner and usually there will be alcohol during celebrations with family and friends. My family doesn't know of my condition and I don't intend to tell them. My friends are helping me for now.

Who has taken these drugs? Will there be any major side effects with/without alcohol? I won't be driving on both holidays, and I read online that alcohol won't be a problem if taken in moderation & if not driving.

hi...I can't say I've taken those particular drugs, but I can say that I am on Paxil and drinking in moderation doesn't seem to harm me.

I would encourage you to let certain, close family members know about what's going on with you...it's nothing to be ashamed of, and you may be surprised by the results and support you get. Your choice though...

If you're really concerned about alcohol and medications, please do talk to your doc. If he/she didn't say anything about that when prescribing to you, it should be fine. Or - I always talk to my pharmacist instead of the doc... they know ALL about these drugs. Good Luck to you - sorry for the late response.

Hello flyrehc

Sorry I don't know the answers, don't know the medication.

Connected with this forum is a chat room. There are no professionals in the room, just people that deal with depression and the medication. That might be a good place to start, if you need to talk with others about these issues.

Just a thought, good luck.
