Homeless (May Trigger)

Postby CrazyLady17 » Thu Dec 19, 2013 11:14 am

Well I am becoming homeless. Oh lovely! So I am 17, pregnant, depressed and very very vulernable right now and I am going to be homeless? Oh wow- that sounds a nice way to spend Christmas and new year.
How am I suppose to keep in contact with people? How am I suppose to keep my phone charged if I don't have anywhere to live? How I am suppose to eat, wash or drink?
This is such a horrible way to be going in.

I just need some love :(

What area are you in? i know its not ideal but there are women's refuges that are for people in this situation i know in the Portsmouth area they are run by "You" as i was one of there mental health workers a few years ago and i am sure there will be a similar thing where ever you are.

Yes they are- as I volunteer at a women's homeless shelter.... But I am just scared to ask if I can stay at the shelter as I shouldn't be homeless.... Should I? Do I deserve this? do I deserve to be homeless while being pregnant- this shouldn't be allowed.
I can't stop crying.

Thank you.

no one deserves that especially when pregnant. the local council should also help you but that normally means spending a lot of time either on the phone or waiting in the offices.

Thank you.
Hmm yes- the council.. I haven't even told my support worker yet- she is going to flip. But she breaks up from work for Christmas tomorrow for two weeks, so I'll have nobody to turn to. Wow :(

Do you mean social services?
And yes I suppose- they also might have a waiting list and I can't wait!

Aww thank you for that :)

But what if I just become homeless and not do anything about it?... What if I miscarry because of all this? :(

there are enough safety nets in place that shouldn't happen, your support worker should make sure of that even if its xmas.

Okay thank you for your support and advise :)

But my support worker doesn't know about me becoming homeless yet and she has two weeks of work from tomorrow. What should I do?!

contact her or her office as soon as possible. there should be others there to cover emergencies even if she isn't in.

contact them tomorrow as early as you can if they can't sort it they will know who can and if not contact Shelter as they will help you. i know its hard but try and stay calm till you've spoken to people in the know. Shelter are there till 8pm if you need to talk to some one now for piece of mind.

Thank you and thank you for all the advice!

I can't stay calm- I'm freaking out here and I'm so shaky and crying my eyes out, I've never felt so unwanted and so unloved before!!
Okay I will contact them dead on 9am tomorrow morning(when they open).

As PDFS said....

Cotact them first thing tomorrow! They cannot leave you and your unborn child just hanging! If they do this....you may have a likely avenue of legal repercussions!

Also....maybe check with other family, friends, neighbors, classmates, police department, fire department,etc....there are a number of resources available!

Do NOT give up!

You have survivied worse things already....this is just a roadblock...not the end of the road, although it may seem that way!
