Hello Rosie

Postby Alaska1958 » Tue Oct 15, 2013 8:44 pm

Today is particularly dark for me. I have never done well when living alone and it's gotten harder in recent years.

Lately it's been a struggle to make it through each week, so today I wanted to do something nice for someone. It usually gives my mood a little boost to do something for someone else. I frequent a small store that sells out of date bread and chips. For several years now, the lady that runs it, Rosie, would greet me by name. She even remembers my boys names. George often goes in with me and Rosie will say "hi Eric, hi George". It's a small thing, but when people I barely know bother to remember me, I notice and appreciate it.

Rosie has been out now for well over a month, getting physical therapy. She's back at work now and I'd been thinking I'd like to buy her some flowers and a card. So today I did and she really seemed to like them. I told her in the card about how I admire her ability to remember names and also about how every time I went in the store while she was out, other customers would always be asking whoever was behind the counter, how Rosie was and when she'd be back. I wanted her to know that she had been missed by us all.

So I had a pretty dark day today, but there was a bright spot in it.

A second bright spot in the day. Via Craigslist I found someone looking to give away old 2 X 6 fence posts. I just got back from my first load and will get more tomorrow. It will help keep the house warm for a couple of weeks.

I started a fire and the temperature has gone from 50 to 75 degrees in here. That's so much better. Just a couple of hours ago I was crying like a baby.

That's good, Alaska. It always feels better to give than to receive. And when we bless others, it's like a soothing balm we place on our own spirit.

I'm inspired Alaska.
I think I just might clean something today.
I have a Franklin stove; I'm sisters cot sits in front of it. It's our main source of heat when it gets cold. She's obviously not going to clean any thing. I think I might move her cot out of the way and clean up the area. Maybe put an easy chair next to the stove and test it.

Alaska,

It seems that it's true : when we give, we recieve. You gave flowers and love to someone and you got woods...

It's really a nice think you did. very nice.

Take care.
