Hello Im Princess Rose and Im 19.
I suffer from depression and have been on citalopram since feb 09.
I get depressed about little things and so people are like "why are you depressed? you have nothing to be depressed about"
Its annoying cause i dont choose to feel like this.

Hello
Welcome! you will not feel on your own on this site, i have not been on here that long myself, and i feel really at home on here. You can just be yourself and write down how you feel on here and hope this will help you through your day if you are having a bad day it really helps i think
I know how you feel it is very hard for people to understand if they have not been through this them self, and you are so right we do not choose to be this way, this is what they just don't understand!!! But we do all on here.
Big hug from little me x
Thanks

Hi, Princess Rose. Don’t ever listen to the people saying you have nothing to be depressed about. They are not you, and are not feeling your feelings or experiencing your life you are. One of my biggest pet peeves is when people think that others shouldn’t be feeling a specific feeling. We don’t just create our feeling or pretend to have them. You are entitled to feel whatever you feel, no mater what that is. Your feelings are your own, embrace them and try to understand them, but never be ashamed of them. In addition, you are absolutely correct you did not choose depression; anyone who suffers or has suffered from depression knows that it isn’t anything that anyone would choose to go through.

Princess, one of the phrases that I hear all to often is "Just snap out of it.", like it's some sort of magic switch you can push to fix it. Such lines as "it's jsut a phase" or "it's jsut hormones" tend to set me off too. The funny thing is that I envy those people, because they will NEVER know what it is like to be us. We here at DU know what it is like, and don't judge or look at you any differently than anyone else. Welcome to a new world. Hugs
