Just saying "hi"

Postby loopygal » Wed Feb 17, 2010 9:37 pm

Hello there. I was diagnosed with clinical depression as a teen, and have struggled with it on and off ever since. It all stemmed from the murder of a good friend when I was 9 years old. I haven't had many real friends since, am very awkward in social situations, and feel like my life is on autopilot. I don't have any real desire to live, I'm just going through the motions.

Hi loopygal and welcome

Sounds awful what you've had to go through :S . For some people what to say in social situations comes so naturally that they don't have to put much effort into it. I'm really awful at social interaction and my friend has many times old me I'm way too blunt. I hope on this forum you won't have to feel awkward and that you will find at least some desire to live and find the good things in life.

loopygal,

Often when things aren't going well for me my comment is that my life is not really a life, just an endurance test.

Fortunately I don't feel that way as much anymore, but when I do it can be quite overwhelming. I just want the world to stop and let me off for a while.

I am also not very comfortable when I am in the outside world and expected to make small talk. Definitely not my major.

You have found a friendly place here to post. Everyone is very supportive. I would encourage you to keep writing and let us get the chance to know you a little better.

Once in while, someone else has gotten through something that you are experiencing right now, and can offer some advice.

Take care
