Hello. I was born in the summer of '59... it was a very good year. ;)

I am single, female, with two cats and six birds. I live in Northern California.

I love collecting rocks, and sometimes I write poetry and stories. I love to read as well but haven't been reading much lately.

I am at present doing renovations inside my house on a careful budget but getting all the improvements made that I want to have done.

My mother is 80 and in a board and care type nursing home with locks on the outside doors so she won't wander. She has dementia with psychosis and is well cared for in that facility.

I have had to write my natural family off in terms of any real source of emotional support.... they are too busy in their own lives and spreading lies about me for me to be able to really count on anything from any of them. Now that I have grieved that, I am moving on and re-creating my own "family" out of friends.

I look forward to seeing you in the chat room. Hugssssssssssss!

CritterQueen (aka CQ)

welcome home new freind

CritterQueen,

I have to agree that '59 was a very good year but also was '57 (my year, so I beat you to 50).

It used to be that I was always the youngest in the crowd of people that I tended to hang around with, now I am the eldest. Funny how when you are young and want to look old, now am somewhat offended when servers in restaurants ask if you have noticed the "seniors' menu".

Our mother's are also close in age. I live with mine though and I must admit that it is a continuing, growing problem in my life. I love my mom but it is difficult to live with an ageing parent. She doesn't have too many friends, so depends on my for companionship. I do have a brother in town. Oh well, I suppose that should be another rant, for another day.
It is true when they say that, you can't choose your family but you can your friends.

I am very fortunate to have found quite a lot of support from this forum. Sometimes (like tonight) it is approaching midnight, and I just sit down at the computer and let the words flow out.

Am sure that you will find the same here, for yourself.

Welcome.

I am so glad you're here. It sounds like you need support as well as providing support. Will see you around.
