Lil Welby,
That was a very heart-warming comment.
It is hard for many people to participate and comment—but you still make that effort, despite the difficulty. There are others on here that have done the same thing, and they should be proud of themselves.
I think participating on here can be a good part of our own healing process, whether we are living with depression or have lived with it.
I have always wanted to help other people with depression in whatever way I can, even whilst I was depressed.
I can never forget what it was like to live with depression… and I don’t want to! That is one of several reasons why I try to offer support in any way I can. I lived with depression for over ten years and I never want to go through it again. However, I don’t want to forget what I have been through, otherwise the experience would have been all for nothing.
I think everyone here has so much to offer. Everyone’s experience with depression will have many similarities, but we also have many personal experiences, stories to share, and even coping strategies that may help other people. But, if anything, it reminds us that we are not alone. We can suffer together
but constructively help each other through it, even if it is just someone to listen to us, or to say...
“You are loved. You are wanted!” So thank you so much for making the effort to give support to others. Hopefully your comment will be a source of encouragement and strength for others to follow your lead.
