Hello Boomer. It sounds like you've been dealing with depression for a while now? At least you are aware that there is a point where you do bounce back, so that's good. How long have you been suffering from depression? I'm 32 and I've been at it for a decade. Our affliction is like running a marathon without a finish line. You're at a hard stretch that may require some extra endurance, but like you said there is a light at the end of this tunnel and you will once again bounce back. Have you tried mood tracking apps? I use them and they help me. Another beneficial app is called moodtools. Persist and resist the urge to give into the depression. I hope to hear from you.
I honestly don't see a light. I'm going through the motions. One day, if I fake it long enough, it'll start to feel real. I've been dealing with depression for a long time. But since I got back from Afghanistan two years ago, I've just been bouncing from one crap situation to the next. It's harder to distract myself now. And I've lost interest. Just going through the motions. I've been to the therapists at the VA; they've shuffled from one medication to another. I'm not asking for help on here by the way or for a solution. Just throwing my voice out there into the masses because it's something I haven't done before. Anonymity is also a bonus.

Boomer,
Thanks for your service.
Anything you can tell us about:
I've just been bouncing from one crap situation to the next.
Without risking your anonymity? Not for advice, but just to document what hasn't worked. Is the VA just giving you meds? I thought they had set up support groups etc..
Getting on here and posting seems to really help me. We could pick an old thread and start comparing what advice we would give that person.
Hang in there,
