Depression Understood Forums

This is new for me. I am a recovering addict. I am 1 1/2 years into recovery. I don't go to a 12 step program. I could never stay sober while I attended a 12 step program in the past.
I feel alone and while I have the support of my family, they don't know the entire story. I am having a real hard time controlling my emotions and I feel depressed. I would like to find others that may have advice or are in similar situations.

I really hope that your recovery is going well. In some ways, my situation is similar to yours. I am not an addict, but my sister is a recovering addict. She began using drugs when she was 14 and I was 5. Her daughter, my niece, is also a recovering addict. My sister has been in recovery for a few years and her daughter has been in recovery for two years. I congratulate you on looking for help and support when you need it.
