Hi Guys!
I just joined this forum today. For the longest time I never talked about my depression with anyone. I was ashamed of it, because I thought it was a weakness. But now that I have cured myself I see it as a strength. I am so much stronger and confident thanks to this horrible journey and I'm ready to help!
I truly believe that everyone can do little things that will make all the difference in their recovery. I hope that if you are struggling and you're reading this now, that you'll really look carefully at your life and try and determine what is making my depressing worse and what can I do to change it?
TIPS:
A simple change that will DRASTICALLY change your mood is REDUCING SUGAR!!!!
Sugar is actually a depressant. You feel good for a while then CRASH. If you don't believe me eat tons of candy and see how you feel, and then stop eating candy, drinking soda, and juice for a week and see how you feel.
When we are stressed we often reach for things high in sugar when that is the opposite of what you want to do.
FIND A PASSION ASAP
A hobby or activity will engage your mind back into reality. Give you support and a way to detox. NO CUTTING
MAKE GOALS
They can be small like 'I will make it to the end of the block' or 'I will not cry at school today'. Those two are ones I used a lot. And when I didn't succeed I didn't punish myself but I thought why did I cry today or why don't I want to get out of bed.
TALK TO ONE PERSON
It doesn't have to be a councilor, doesn't have to be a doctor, doesn't have to be a parent, doesn't even have to be a person. Like I said I didn't tell anyone about my depression for basically a whole year. I wrote in my journal everyday and that was my person. I could rant and I actually felt like someone was listening. you have this forum! PM someone when you are doing bad and work through that moment with that person.
GO TO BED ON A HAPPY NOTE:
Watch a funny video before bed. Read your fav book, eat your fav food. Talk to a bff. Listen to your fav song! ANYTHING!
Thanks for listening and I hope that everyone has a good recovery!
REMEMBER YOU HAVE THE STRENGTH! YOU ARE UNSTOPPABLE!
