I have been dealing with depression for 21 years. Some meds working for years to keep it under control. My lasting episode starting 3 years ago and finally a new doctor found several meds to get me throught this one. I have felt better since February. My family is not supportive.

Hi. It is nice to meet you. I'm just wondering why your family is not supportive? Do you mean not supportive in general or not supportive of you in terms of your illness?

Welcome.
Having support does make things easier to deal with. This forum has been a great place to get things off my chest.

The funny thing is that they think they know everything about depression and have even told my doctors that. I have had 8 horrible episodes in the past 20 years. Been hospitalilzed 6 times. Several times because I got off the meds and the depression returned 10 fold. Twice because the meds stopped working. Now I am on a cocktail of 4 different meds. I have been stable since January 2014. I understand that my family has had their fill of this and they simply don't want to deal with it anymore. My husband is ready to divorce me if I have another episode. My children love me so much but they are tired too. I have a great doctor and a therapist, my depression just at times is unmanageable until the meds are right. The episodes last from a few weeks to 8 months. But right now I am good. This feels good just to talk about now. Thanks for listening.

Glad to hear that things are going well so far. Sounds like you have had quite the trying time. Hopefully it's all under control for you now.
