Not sure what to do
My boyfriend has depression and stopped taking his medication about a month ago. I know he isn't thinking rationally right now, he told me he was going to start spending time with his ex wife to "see where it would go", but he wasn't breaking up with me. I've talked with his family about my concerns, and they are equally concerned about him but, I feel helpless to help him right now. I want to do more, but not sure what I can do. I'd love any advice, and insight. I've never dated anyone who has depression before, and I just want him to be ok, and right now I know he's not.
Hi Shellswings. Is there any reason why he stopped taking the meds? Did they make him feel strange. Sometimes the best thing and only thing we can do for people with depression is be there without judging. And try to support them and their decisions, and encourage tem to seek help, therapy a new med, things like that. Wishing you the best

Thanks for the reply. I've been talking with his family, and they're trying to get thru to him too. He said he stopped taking them because he was doing good. And it seemed like he was. I wish I had realized. I've been doing to research to try to understand. He's upset with me right now, and not talking to me which is making this harder. I'm not giving up on him. I know as hard as this is for me, Its 100 times harder for him. Any advice is appreciated.

I have read that people often get to feeling better and will stop taking their medication. I think they decide that they are fine and don't need it anymore. I would just continue to be supportive like you are doing. He might get depressed again since he is not taking his medication and he will need someone to be there for him if this happens. Remember you need to take care of yourself as well! Good luck.
