Welcome to the site, (((( MaryA ))))!
I was told by a psychiatrist that loss of interest in activities that you normally find pleasurable is a very common symptom of depression. ( Apparently it's called anhedonia, at least it is in the United Kingdom. ) It's one that I certainly have experienced very strongly and quite often still do. So I can certainly relate to that, and I feel confident that you are very much not alone in this.
I also went through a stage where I hardly went out at all for a few weeks. For me, such isolation was very bad, because the more depressed I got the more isolated I became, and the more isolated I became the more depressed I became. So, again, this is something that I can very much relate to.
Something that I found helpful in " easing myself back into the world " was going somewhere like a coffee-shop and just watching the world go by. Or going to a library and using a computer to browse the internet, or just looking at the books to find something that interested me. Places like these allowed me to be outside and among people, but in a way that wasn't stressful and where I wouldn't feel " under the spotlight ", and wouldn't trigger my social anxiety.
Good luck, (((( MaryA ))))! I hope that this site will be as helpful to you as it has been, and is, to me.
