Hey all, thePower here

Postby thePower » Sat Sep 29, 2012 7:12 pm

I first logged in on the chat a couple days ago, now trying out the forums in hopes of being more social. I see it has helped, just to try and be more open, to try and talk more about what's in my head. On the better days I hope to be able to help out others just as I was helped, to give a little of me to others in need.
So that's it, I'm quiet but that doesn't mean I'm not interested. I am trying.
A little personal info- I work as an illustrator full-time. I like to draw in my free time as well, but try not to take my work home with me (that would be crappy). I'm into books, and I like good palaver. Sometimes I watch a lot of TV series, a lot of sci-fi themes and animated shows. My username thePower is from a cartoon :)
I'm probably forgetting something but for now, see you around.

Hi thePower. Welcome to the forum. I'm glad you decided to join here as well as the room, both can be extremely useful. I've seen you in the room on a couple of occasions. I hope it helps you with being more social.

I understand what its like to be quiet although sometimes it seems like I never am. I have my moments, and that's ok. Just like it's ok when you are. Sometimes just knowing someone is there if you were to speak up can help too. It is so good that you are trying. You should be proud of yourself for that.

I couldn't even imagine being an illustrator. It must be rewarding work to see what you do out there. I'm the type that can't even draw a stick figure. lol I can understand not bringing you're work home with you. I've never watched thePower cartoon but given the name it sounds like something my son would like.

Once again welcome to the forum.
Holly

Thanks! Yeah, being quiet has its advantages. I've become a better listener, I think.
We all start small. I started drawing very simple shapes, and went from there. I know when people say artists are talented people, you need to be born with talent, etc. they mean well, but I don't think that's the case. It just takes work, just like any other craft.
thePower isn't the name of the cartoon, more like something a character said in a show I watched once. I just thought it was pretty funny.

Hi thePower, welcome to the forms. I am glad to hear you checked out Chat here as well. We welcome new members all the time.

Many times, creative people are quiet at times, I think that is when their minds are forming the next project and studying something within. Illustration has changed so much over the last few decades with the use of computer technology. I find it such an amazing field. My younger brother graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design so I think I understand very well what you do.

Nice to hear from you and hope to see you also in chat. Take care, hugs
