I've used the chatroom in the past, and I've been registered to the forums for a while now, but I've been a lurker, if anything.
It's 3am on a Friday night/ Saturday morning. I'm feeling exceptionally down and I'm just going to try to keep my mind off of things, yet read about things relevant to my depression on this forum.
Maybe it sounds counterintuitive, but it is exactly what I need right now.

Like you, I read the posts on the forums for quite a long time before I actually registered or posted anything myself. ( In fact it was my wish to register and post on this site that eventually nudged me into finally getting my own e-mail address, for the first time. )
I hope that you'll feel comfortable on this site, and that you'll feel able to post as much, or as little, as you feel comfortable doing.
