tbear519 introduction

Postby tbear519 » Thu Oct 01, 2009 11:17 am

I have been under treatment for depression for about 10 years. I have been on medication (Celexa) for 8 and in and out of therapy for that time. Over the years my meds have been increased, just recently reaching the maximum dose.

I have been married for 14 years and we have a 4.5 year old son. I work full time after taking 2 years off when my son was born. I continue to do the majority of the housework since being off work. We have a cleaning lady come in every other week.

My depressive symptoms are:
- withdrawing
- feeling overwhelmed
- being very hard on myself
- trouble sleeping
- very active mind making it hard to concentrate and complete things

What I do for me:
- have cleaning lady to off load housework
- pilaties once a week
- read before bed

Hi there tbear! Again, welcome to the forum! Feel free to post as little or as much as you need.

First off, you are very brave for fighting in whatever way you can. Congratulations on just that alone.

I am glad that you do something for you. YAY! :)

Since you do pilates, would you think about doing yoga? (like from Wai Lana) I know it has often helped me with some of my depressive symptoms.

It's just a thought.

Take care! ~Crystal

tbear - you are very smart to do those things for yourself to help alleviate your symptoms. I often have that racing mind as well and I hate the combination of being in deep despair plus having racing thoughts. It is hard to handle. I am sorry that you have suffered for so long. I hope the meds are helping somewhat. I hope you have a supportive partner as well. It has only been 4.5 years for me but I know that my husband is sick and tired of my depression. I hope you continue to post on here. I look forward to reading you.
